What Is Canine Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is an innovative form of physical therapy that involves using water to treat various medical conditions while placing minimal stress on joints. The benefits of hydrotherapy include providing buoyancy and resistance, which allows us to design personalized rehabilitation programs tailored to each dog's unique needs. This form of therapy can help relieve pain, increase muscle tone, improve joint function, enhance limb coordination, and correct gait abnormalities.
At Hydro Hounds, we utilize a state-of-the-art Canine Underwater Treadmill that is heated to approximately 38 degrees Celsius and is easily accessible via ramps, making it a stress-free experience for your dog. Our treadmill uses warm water that increases blood flow to the muscles and connective tissues, reducing pain and inflammation. With improved blood flow and oxygenation, the muscles can relax and become more flexible, enabling them to recover faster.
Our hydro therapist has extensive experience in modifying your dog's walking style and can encourage them to strengthen the correct muscles required to achieve a normal walking pattern. Our personalized hydrotherapy programs are designed to improve your dog's mobility, allowing them to lead an active and healthy life.
In summary, hydrotherapy is a safe and effective form of physical therapy that has numerous benefits for dogs with medical conditions. At Hydro Hounds, we are committed to providing top-quality care to your beloved pets, ensuring they get the treatment they need to recover and thrive.
